About

I’m a 25 year old professional in the DC Metro area trying to lose the “freshman-70″ that creeped on during college using the WeightWatchers program.  Ok, I know 70lbs doesn’t creep on…but college was 5 years for me!

I feel like I’ve spent the better part of my life worrying about my weight.  It started when I was involved in things like dance and cheerleading as a child, where my average sized body looked gigantic next to the twigs.  Despite being self-conscious, I maintained my weight pretty easily throughout middle and high school by playing sports and staying active.

During my senior year of high school, I started my long term relationship with WeightWatchers.  Determined not to worry about weight in college, I originally started the program with the goal of losing 20-30 lbs.  I did this in a matter of months and started college at my lowest adult weight ever.  This was shortlived as I had the misfortune of going to a school with an award-winning dining program and WeightWatchers and I had to break up.

It took three years to gain that 20-30lbs back and in my third year, I started an anti-depressant that caused me to gain nearly 30lbs within three months.  That’s when the yo-yoing really started.  When college ended, I have noticed it to be harder than ever to lose/maintain weight since I am far less active and far more busy.

I started this blog for several reasons.  One reason is to maintain some sense of accountability since my friends and family are far too kind.  Another reason is because there is a void of the 20-something single crowd trying to lose weight.  I know we’re not all thin and glamorous, despite what the married 30-something women think (yes, I’m talking to you coworkers at my 9 to 5).  And the last reason is because I want to document the journey so that when I’m at the end, I can look back and realize how far I’ve come.
